EmaraTax Portal: How to Log In and What You Can Do

EmaraTax is the Federal Tax Authority's online portal for everything tax in the UAE — registering for VAT and corporate tax, filing returns, paying, and keeping your details current. Here is how to log in and get set up.

Almost every interaction you have with the UAE tax system happens on one website: EmaraTax. There are no counter visits and very little paper — if your access is set up correctly, tax admin is quick; if it isn't, every task becomes a headache. This guide explains what EmaraTax is, how to log in, and what you can actually do there.

What is EmaraTax?

EmaraTax is the Federal Tax Authority (FTA)'s digital tax platform, live at eservices.tax.gov.ae. It replaced the FTA's older e-Services portal at the end of 2022, migrating existing accounts across, and it is now the single place where UAE businesses manage Value Added Tax (VAT), corporate tax and excise tax. Registration, returns, payments, refunds and updates to your company record all run through it.

How to log in to EmaraTax

You can access EmaraTax two ways:

  1. UAE Pass — the national digital identity. If you have a UAE Pass account, choosing "Login with UAE Pass" is the fastest route and links your identity to your tax account.
  2. Email and password — a standard EmaraTax account created with an email address. First-time users sign up, verify the email, and set a password.

Once inside, you land on a dashboard of "Taxable Person" profiles. A single login can hold more than one taxable person — useful if you manage several companies — so always confirm you are working under the correct entity before you file or pay.

What you can do on EmaraTax

The portal covers the full tax lifecycle:

  • Register for VAT, corporate tax and excise tax, and receive your Tax Registration Number (TRN) for each.
  • File returns — VAT returns each tax period and the annual corporate tax return.
  • Pay tax due and any administrative penalties, and view your account balance.
  • Claim refunds where you are in a repayable position.
  • Manage your profile — update the trade licence, activities, owners, contact details, bank account and authorised signatories.
  • Handle correspondence — respond to FTA clarifications, submit voluntary disclosures and reconsideration requests.

Setting up access correctly

For a new business, EmaraTax is the first thing to get right. Create the account, register the entity, and make sure the contact email and authorised signatory are people who will actually see the FTA's messages — missed portal notifications are a common cause of late filings. Corporate tax and VAT are separate registrations with separate TRNs, so register for each on its own trigger: corporate tax applies to essentially every company, while VAT depends on your taxable turnover. The step-by-step registration detail is in our guides to corporate tax registration and VAT registration and filing.

Common EmaraTax issues (and how to avoid them)

  • Wrong entity selected. With multiple taxable persons under one login, it is easy to file under the wrong company. Check the entity name at the top before every action.
  • Outdated details. An expired licence, passport or email in your profile can block filings and trigger penalties. Keep the record current — changes must be reported within the FTA's deadline.
  • Missed notifications. The FTA communicates through the portal and the registered email. If nobody monitors them, clarification requests and deadlines slip by unseen.
  • Access lost at handover. When a manager or accountant leaves, portal access can be stranded. Keep the account recovery details and authorised-signatory records in order.

How QuickTax helps

We run EmaraTax for our clients end to end — getting access set up, registering for VAT and corporate tax, filing every return on time, making payments, and keeping the company profile current so nothing bounces. You keep ownership of the account; we do the work inside it.

What this means for you

EmaraTax is the front door to the entire UAE tax system — get the access right and everything downstream is easier. Three things to keep in order:

One portal, every tax

VAT, corporate tax and excise all live on EmaraTax at eservices.tax.gov.ae. Log in with UAE Pass or email, register each tax separately, then file and pay in the same place.

Check the entity before you act

One login can hold several companies. Confirm the taxable person at the top of the screen before filing or paying — the most common EmaraTax mistake is acting under the wrong entity.

Keep the profile and contacts current

The FTA reaches you through the portal and the registered email. Stale details and unmonitored notifications cause missed deadlines and penalties — assign someone to watch them.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an EmaraTax account for corporate tax as well as VAT?

Yes. EmaraTax is the single FTA portal for both — you register each tax separately from the same login and receive a distinct Tax Registration Number for VAT and for corporate tax. Both returns and payments are then handled in the same account.

Can one EmaraTax login manage more than one company?

Yes. A single EmaraTax login can hold several 'Taxable Person' profiles, which is convenient if you own or manage multiple entities. Because of that, always confirm you are working under the correct company before filing or paying — filing under the wrong entity is a common error.

How do I log in to EmaraTax with UAE Pass?

On eservices.tax.gov.ae choose 'Login with UAE Pass' and authenticate with your UAE Pass credentials; your identity is linked to your tax account. If you do not use UAE Pass, you can log in with the email and password set when the EmaraTax account was created.

What happened to the old FTA e-Services portal?

EmaraTax replaced the FTA's previous e-Services portal at the end of 2022, and existing accounts were migrated across. All VAT, corporate tax and excise services now live on EmaraTax at eservices.tax.gov.ae; the old portal is no longer used.
